Relationships between feature types are manipulated with drag-and-drop operations in the Feature Type Tree pane and with commands on the shortcut menu. You can associate one independent feature with another (to create a compound feature) or remove a child feature type from the parent.

To use the Configuration Assistant to add a child feature type to a parent feature type, the data model must support the relationship- the child feature type must already be defined with the parent_id attribute in both the GIS database and the Bentley OpenUtilities Designer database. The Configuration Assistant does not make schema changes to the Bentley OpenUtilities Designer database or the GIS.
